Last year when there is a bootleg yoyo boom in singapore, some people are encouraging us not to buy them.

Hi Guys,with the current craze of yoyos, there are many new players in the market and many of them are new to yoyos.We've been noticing a trend of bootleg yoyos being sold in the market at incredible prices all around the island.Please be wary of such brands/yoyos etc...We're not saying it's illegal to buy, it's NOT..you can buy anything up to your own discretion.But just wary of what you are buying, if it's bootleg, make sure you KNOW it's bootleg and not someone trying to sell you a bootleg yoyo as the real thing.Don't get cheated into paying big $$ for fake yoyos.Just do a search on wikipedia on such brands and you will find out morehttp://yoyowiki.org/wiki/Auldey_and_AodaThere are more and more bootleg yoyos in the market, some as expensive as over $100 each...at those prices, it's better to just get the original...not only do the originals play better, last longer, the fakes are NOT allowed in any competitions. And most of the time, the bootlegs start playing worse and worse the older they get...So all the players out there, whatever you buy, just be extra careful...DO NOT pay for a bootleg that the seller is trying to sell you as the real thing. We've heard of such incidents, hence the need for this thread.Again, it is NOT wrong to buy a bootleg, just make sure you KNOW it's bootleg when you buy it...But ultimately, why not just buy the original? Less problem in the long run...

Yesterday was a Fun and Exciting day!!!

7am: woke up
9am: I went to meet my yoyo friends from Philippines
12 noon: Went for workshop
2 45pm: Went to SAS for Adrian's Audition ( Adrian did really well!!! I so happy for him!!)
4 30pm: Went to Dan Ryan's Chicago Grill for dinner with Annette and Adrian.
6 30pm: Meet up with Han Zheng and Vincent to go for the Contact
Juggling Workshop at The Substation
7 30pm: Workshop starts!!!
9 30pm: Workshop end, then we head down to Going Om Cafe at Haji Lane to practise
1am: Went home

Everything fall in place nicely!!! Every min every sec was not wasted.

Im very stress up with this 40 mins show that i'm going to do on Sunday.

With Diabolo Yoyo and Juggling, I can hardly squeeze out a 30 mins performance...
I try to talk more but the most difficult part of my performance is talking. I'm really bad at talking.
This is really a experimental show for me.

How good are you?

took up some popping class recently
realised that there are a lot of good poppers in Singapore. More than you can imagine!

So initially I wanted to give up coz I usually likes to learn things that ppl don't really learn.
Coz its easier to perform. Less stressful. :)

But after watching a lot of popping videos I realise something.
I compare Chiki's performance & other world class popper's performance.
I realised that Chiki isn't a great dancer compared to them, instead even my instructor is better than Chiki.
But I personally enjoy watching Chiki's performance more than many highly skilled poppers because i feel that he present himself as a performer / not a dancer.

Then this question came to my mind, there are so many good poppers in Japan. Don't Chiki feels embarrassed or scared that they might happen to watch his show and laugh at him?

I think a performer must not compare yourself with others. You should do your best out of what you can. Use your performance to inspire more people.

So far I've performed 2 shows at YOG.
1 for volleyball, 1 for gymnastics.
I should say its not a easy performance...
the numbers of spectators are crazy, maybe coz its a weekend.
stress level is very very high..

But I'll take it as a very good experience for me..
I need to perform more to get better..

August is a busy month

6 performance and 5 rehearsals for YOG (6mins diabolo routine)
I've just finished editing my music. haven start planning my routine yet :(
this time i'm going to try out a new routine, new costume.

Performance Costume:
I realise i've bought many costume pants / shorts in Japan.
I need more tops. :)
Anyway, my performance costume are not all those fancy design or bright coloured clothing. sometimes i wear it out for shopping too! :) but i've to stop doing that coz that'll make me buy more and more "costume". almost every performance i've got a new set of costume. The money i make from the show is not even enough to pay for it. Hopefully this year will be a good year for me.

Tomorrow is NDP mingling show at bishan, looking forward to it.

Singapore Got Talent!

last sunday, I was invited to do a short video shoot on the next up coming talent competition on channel 5 @ mediacorp.
Over there I saw cheer leaders, skaters, wu shu, dancers, musicians, Roy (mime guy), Mr bottle, Danny, Jeremy Tan (magicians), belly dancers, stilt walkers (the super old skool team! avg. abt 40yrs old doing somersault and back flip. The last time i saw this type of stilt walking performance was maybe more than 15yrs ago. Impressive!

Busy week

This week was a busy week pack with workshop, practise, audition, workshop, workshop, accounting, stock take, workshop, practise, etc... I need time to find some time to watch my DVD and clean up my room!!!! Oh my room is in a mess, packed with diabolos, yo-yos, and acrylic balls...

Shinji Saito - a super technical 2A player... amazing control of the yo-yo... nobody can beat him!!!
Rei Iwakura - a very creative/original + excellence showmanship 4A player.. watching his freestyle makes me feel like I'm watching ryo yabe's diabolo freestyle.. very high tension level.. he is gonna bring yo-yo to another level, as in the performance level... i've never really watch before a yo-yo performance that have such a high tension level... really inspired by him..
